Setting up GChat in a Google Apps Account, but not getting a buddy list request?

Sometimes, when setting up the GChat integration with a Google Apps mail account (as shown in the instructions for setting up GChat), you will enter your information correctly, but you'll still not get a notification.  Usually, this is because your Google Apps account isn't properly set up for XMPP. Here's how to rectify that:
  1. First, check if your Google Apps account is setup for XMPP, by going here, and entering your domain name. If it's set up correctly, it should look like the image below: 
  2. If it's not set up correctly, follow the ensuing steps:
  3. Login to the Manage Domain Dashboard section (https://www.google.com/a/cpanel/yourdomain.com/):
  4. Scroll down to Service Settings, and for Google Talk, select "Add It Now" (as shown below). If Google Talk is not listed, proceed to step 5. Otherwise, you should be all set:
  5. Click Add More Services 
  6. You should see Google Chat on the right (It talks about Voice, IM etc.) 
  7. Click the Add It Now button 
  8. Now go to Organisations & Users 
  9. Click the Services tab 
  10. Scroll down and you should now see Google Talk, enable it if it isn't already on
  11. Ensure that your DNS SRV records are correctly set: http://support.google.com/a/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=34143 
  12. Voila!
